The Heath Police Department has eighteen full-time sworn officers, one part-time sworn officer, eight reserve officers, six full-time dispatchers, and two clerks.

HPD is a progressive and service oriented agency that responds to approximately 16,000 calls for service a year. In July of 1997, the Police Department became an internationally accredited law enforcement agency through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies [www.calea.org] of Gainesville, Virginia and was reaccredited in 2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, and 2015.

The Department consists of Chief Dave Haren and is assisted by three Patrol Sergeants and one Administrative Sergeant. Their team provides 24/7 continuous service to the citizens and business community of Heath investigating a wide variety of criminal offenses in addition to their traffic enforcement duties.

The Detective Section is staffed by two criminal investigators and supervised by Sergeant Craig Black, the Support Services Commander. They are responsible for all priority one crimes such as homicide, burglary, and armed robbery. The Support Services Bureau Commander also provides crime analysis, tracking trends in crime by such factors as location, time and type of crime.

Heath P.D. also offers electronic fingerprinting. Click here for the schedule of availability and price list. There is NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED for this service and no scheduling fee will be charged. Contact Sergeant Craig Black with any questions.
