This neighborhood was a working farm owned by the Heckel family in the late 1800s/early 1900s. As Baltimore developed, the farm divided itself into residential lots. This lot where we live was owned then vacated, bought boarded up and in need of renovation. The rehabilitation of the space extended beyond the walls of the house and across the yard, making raised beds in place of lawn. The soil is rich, Our drive is strong. We are growing medicine here in the shape of food, and loving the art that ensues.
