Hedonisia Hawaii was founded on land was once a junkyard with rusting vehicles strewn everywhere. It took us over 3 years of slow cleanup to heal the land.
During the cleanup, we learned it is necessary to preserve the remaining wilderness areas on this planet but also to restore and rehabilitate land that has already been damaged by the activities of humans.
We did not just want to be a place for tourists to stay. We wanted to be a community oriented business with a social conscience; one that makes money by doing good! Yes it is possible! And we pay taxes too!
In line with this philosophy we maintain a portfolio of feminist entrepreneur websites. Many of our interns work on these projects as part of their internship.
The motto of Hedonisia is, "An ever-fluctuating community of independent individuals (and couples)!"
Some of our Volunteers return nearly every year making us a loosely based community of travelers and socially progressive individuals who are interested in eco-living in nature.
Hedonisia places great emphasis on pleasurable activism! We live and work in a beautiful eco-friendly rainforest where we have fun and yet engage in work on various social issues such as eco-friendly practices on the land and socially progressive work on the Internet.
