Heritage Hen Farm fresh eggs + raw dairy

Our farm is season and weather-dependent and our livestock is on pasture 100% of the time. Nothing in nature produces 24/7/365 so we don't expect this unrealistic goal from our livestock, therefore we don't feed anything to our animals to make them more prolific. We raise heritage poultry and cows, both flock and bovine graze on native legume grasses and live outside unconfined under Florida's sunshine, every day. We are prolific in eggs Spring-Autumn, plentiful in raw milk almost year-round but come Winter the grasses are shorter so we have less raw milk to make all of our raw dairy provisions. We harvest poultry late Spring-Winter and offer Poussin, Whole Roasters and Stewing Hens. We harvest Angus bovine twice each year and offer dry-aged beef by whole or half cow PreOrders, and by Fall 2016 we hope to offer Pastured Pork in limited orders. We are certified Animal Welfare Approved (the most stringent 3rd party certification) and we are an American Livestock Breeds Conservancy farm. We are not Certified Organic by a third party (by choice) but we keep the required USDA Certified Organic requirements and documentation. We also practice the Juliette de Bairacli Levy traditional husbandry methods of rearing livestock. We are grateful to Whole Foods which weekly donates to our farm the organic legumes, nuts and seeds from the Bulk Food Section which the flock may free-choice from and when the grasses are shorter either due to inclement rains or heat, we supplement with certified organic non GMO feed. We also sprout thousands of pounds of Organic Black Oil Sunflower Seeds for the flock to free-choice on, and daily we open fresh coconuts for them which they enjoy to their heart's content!

When our flock is less prolific we limit eggs to half dozen purchases and because we have a large customer base which has supported us since 2007, eggs are sold to customers who also purchase at least one raw dairy item. To help meet the local demand for raw dairy, we rely on one other Florida raw dairy farm which likewise raises the closed herd on pasture at all times, but we continue to make our raw dairy provisions daily by hand in small batches. Each November we host Linda Hart of Crazy Hart Ranch when we help our colleague farmer harvest pastured heritage turkeys and offer those for pick-up from our farm before Thanksgiving.
