Hewitt-Trussville High School is a four-year public high school in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Trussville. It is the only high school in Trussville City Schools and is named for the early local educator Robert Hewitt. School colors are red and gray, and the athletic teams are called the Huskies. HTHS competes in AHSAA Class 7A athletics.RecognitionHTHS has been recognized by a variety of sources as one of the best high schools in Alabama: SchoolDigger ranks HTHS 8th out of 351 high schools in the state of Alabama and 4th among high schools in the Birmingham metropolitan area. HTHS is one of 12 Alabama schools included in the Washington Post's 2016 list of America's Most Challenging High Schools. Newsweek includes HTHS among the 20 Alabama schools selected for its list of America's Best High Schools. US News & World Report ranks HTHS 13th among Alabama high schools and classifies it as a silver medal school. HTHS was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, the highest recognition a school can receive from the department.
