Highland Park Little League is a non-profit corporation registered with the State of Iowa and chartered by Little League Baseball, Inc. The league is organized to provide a program of service to youth. It is geared to provide an outlet of healthful activity and training under good leadership in the atmosphere of wholesome community participation. The movement is dedicated to helping children become good and decent citizens. It strives to inspire them with a goal and to enrich their lives towards the day when they must take their place in the world. It establishes for them rudiments of teamwork and fair play.
Since its beginning in 1954, thousands of boys and girls in the “Highland Park”, “Oak Park”, and “Union Park” areas have enjoyed the benefits of organized baseball. Our goal from the beginning has been to demonstrate adherence to the traditions of Little League Baseball, emphasizing the three tenets of LLB: character, courage and loyalty.
The mission of the Highland Park Little League of Des Moines is to implant in the children of the HPLL community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger and happier children and will grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens.
