After 93% of families in Gillespie County contributed to have it built, Hill Country Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1971. More than 45 years ago citizens, families and an entire community united to achieve something extraordinary in Fredericksburg, Texas. They saved their pennies, nickels and dimes in Mason jars to build a hospital for their families and future generations.
Today, Hill Country Memorial employees, physicians and volunteers continue to honor that commitment by doing worthwhile work and making a difference. The result is a health care organization that exceeds patient needs and helps fulfill community goals.
Throughout the years, Hill Country Memorial has broadened its services, improved quality, and adapted to the health care needs of its community. The HCMH Foundation has been a valuable partner in helping the hospital grow, and plans are underway to continue the traditions of growth and innovation.
Today, Hill Country Memorial serves as a leader among rural health care institutions as it empowers others and creates healthy in remarkable ways.
