More about Hinson Kennels

Here at Hinson Kennels, we require that all puppies leave to their new homes on return contracts and sold as PET only unless marked other wise on the contract. (We do not require you to spay or neuter your pet, this is for health purposes. But, this does not allow you to breed your pet.) If you have questions about spay or neuter; the pros and cons, ask. Each breeder, owner and veterinary care provider may feel differently.

All puppies placed as pets, will not be issued any registration forms be it AKC, NKC or CKC. Unless this form has been purchased. New puppy owners can ask for copies of the parents pedigrees and or the litters birth certificate. These copies will be provided at our discretion.

Puppies placed in potential breeding homes, will remain co-owned with Hinson Kennels and carry a Hinson Kennels name. The new co-owner may also incorporate their name. (See example below) These puppies will always be AKC registered and have the option of other registries as well.
"Leonhardt Brecken Kliner Hahn Von Hinson"

All registrations will be provided to those who have paid the registry fee upfront. Registrations can take 7 days to two weeks and sometimes longer to make it's way back to us from the registry source from the time of purchase. This all depends on the numbers of litters registered to waiting on DNA which can take 7-9 weeks and even up to 3-4 months. If there is only one pup leaving to a home with an registration option out of the litter, I may not register the litter right away, this is also a discretion on Hinson Kennels behalf. As all litters that have to be registered will be "pre-registered" which is more expensive on our part than the standard litter registration. We will again offer the other litter mate owners registration options before finalizing the litter registration. All puppies who are not registered with their new homes are always registered back to HInson Kennels. If at anytime you wish to obtain your pups registration that was previously registered with us or another owner there are processing fees that will need to be paid.

Placement fees vary per bloodline, not color or gender. Fees also vary depending upon the type of placement fee. Deposits are normally 250$. All deposits to hold a puppy for the insurance of placement is NONREFUNDABLE.

We offer ear cropping, the fee for ear cropping is 400$. This fee, pays for the initial crop, travel and after care of the pup. We have two vets that do our cropping, these vets have been cropping for 20+ years. We ourselves have had 100% success rate with standing crops. We use Dr. Johnson out of Beulaville, NC & Dr. Griffin out of Albemarle, NC. IF you wish to crop on your own using your vet of choice, please remember there is allot of work that goes into the after care for those who will need to be taped and the crop is NOT guaranteed to stand. Any failed cropping where the after care was not provided by myself or the original vet who provided the crop will not be candidates for re-cropping. And there are no monetary reimbursements.
If you choose to have your pup cropped before coming home, we urge you to let us provide the aftercare or at least keep them until the stitches have been removed and the first tapping has came down and ready for the second taping. When we are ready for the second taping, if you would like to learn to tape, we would be more than happy to show/teach you. This usually takes about 2 weeks.

If we have more than one puppy in the litter being cropped our choice of vet may be one over the other. This has nothing to do with the vet themselves or the crop. But rather who can crop a certain number of pups given the appointment, the appointment time and appointment date. Dr. Johnson is roughly 4 hours away, Dr. Griffin is roughly 1.5 hours away. And depending on the age, the appointments available depends on which vet we may use. If appointments have been made for a certain date, the date may be deferred to 2-3 days later. This may vary due to the number of surgical intakes per day, I.e. emergency intake.
While pups are being cropped they are either kept with us here in our home for the before and after care and or stay overnight in the providing veterinary office.

Note:
We always try to promptly respond as we do offer lifetime breeder support. However, if you have reached out to us and we have not yet gotten back with you please remember we too have jobs, children, a house hold to run and lots of dogs to care for.
