Ogle Hall was built in 1739 by Dr. William Stephenson. The house was later occupied by Maryland Governor Samuel Ogle from 1747 until his death in 1752. His son, Benjamin Ogle, also served as governor and inhabited Ogle Hall. During this time, he dined with George Washington in 1773. In the early 1800s, the Marquis de Lafayette visited the site. While in the ballroom, he said that it was “the most beautiful” in America.
Historic Ogle Hall is furnished with many antiques and fine reproductions, such as the Waterford crystal chandelier in the ballroom. From the ballroom, doors open to the courtyard—the perfect setting for any gathering.
