More about Hog Heaven of New Philadelphia

Folks from near and far venture to a place born Hog Heaven. Ron incorporates his love of food, travel and riding into a place where folks were not only served large portions of delicious pork dishes, but were served friendly smiles, in a fun laid back atmosphere!

Ron, his family and the entire Hog Heaven staff gives back to the community through Annual Motorcycle Runs, Memorial Funds, Scholarships, and a friend or two in need. We are glad your travels landed you here, you entered as a stranger, but you'll leave as a friend! We hope your experience at Hog Heaven will leave you squealing with delight!

It all started in May of 2000 when Ron Rosenthal, with a love for southern cooking and a few extra bucks in his pocket, opened a small 16-seat Hog Heaven restaurant on Front Ave. in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Initial response was so strong that Ron was forced to offer carryout and delivery, requiring him at times to personally deliver meals on his Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle. Within the first year, the Front Ave. location was expanded to seat 40 indoors and 12 outdoors.
There was still not enough space for the customers in search of Ron's southern BBQ. In July of 2001 he opened another Hog Heaven restaurant in neighboring Dover, Ohio. This restaurant & bar accommodated 80 customers indoors, providing cold beer and great southern BBQ meals. With good friends, live music, cold beverages, and a vacation atmosphere the Dover location was expanded to seat another 80 people outdoors. The outdoor dining area created an atmosphere as if you were somewhere in the Florida Keys. With motorcycle runs, live entertainment, great food and a vacation atmosphere the tempo was set for the Hog Heaven restaurants to come.

In January of 2003 Ron & his father opened a 180 seat Hog Heaven restaurant located off the I-77 exit in New Philadelphia, Ohio. The original small Hog Heaven closed its doors to welcome the new facility. By the spring of 2003 the new location was accommodating 180 customers indoors, 150 outdoors in the tiki bar area and with the largest outdoor beer garden in the county, 1,500 in the stage area. Soon this became the best location to have a great meal, join in large events, such as the Informerfest, the HOGtoberfest, charitable fundraisers or to welcome national acts such as David Allan Coe. In September of 2004 Ron & his father opened another Hog Heaven off I-77 & US-62 in Canton, Ohio. This location is similar to the New Philadelphia restaurant without the outdoor stage area.

Hog Heaven is a great supporter of fundraisers for children in need. Each year Hog Heaven, through its Tom Watson (former Law Director of Dover) Motorcycle Run, donates a $500.00 scholarship in Mr. Watson's name, to one of the area's high school seniors. In 2004 Hog Heaven, in conjunction with the Wind & Fire Motorcycle Club (active & retired fire fighters with Harley Davidson motorcycles), Northeastern Ohio Chapter 89, raised over $20,000, which was donated to ACBC (Aluminum Cans for Burned Children) of Akron Children's Hospital Burn Unit. Hog Heaven also participates in the annual Teddy Bear Motorcycle Run, which supports the Akron Children's Hospital, by providing food to the participants. In 2003 & 2004 this event enabled Hog Heaven to donate over $2,000 annually to the hospital. Hog Heaven & its staff enjoy working with their communities and will continue to do so in the years to come. Thank you for checking out our web site. We look forward to having you join us at one of our restaurants.
