We are the people of God placed in this particular time and space to share the news of the Savior Jesus Christ. We are the people of God propelled by the power of Word and Sacrament. We are the people of God forgiven and freed by the Blood of the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. We are the people of God encouraged to bring more people into this Family of Faith and finally We are the people of God using everyday as a precious gift and seeing others through the eyes of Christ Jesus.

We invite you to worship with us at our regular worship service at 10:30am each Sunday.

On the Second Sunday of the month (Second Celebration) we offer three services; 8am - Traditional (Sanctuary); 10:30am - Traditional (Sanctuary); 10:30am - Contemporary (Family Life Center).

What We Believe

1. The BIBLE is the Word of God --- absolute truth. It shows God in action.
2. GOD is one God in three persons --- Father, Son, & Holy Spirit; Creator, Redeemer, & Sanctifier.
3. MAN & WOMAN were created by God in holiness, but sinned (rebelled.) We cannot by our own powers come back to God.
4. The SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST died to save the world from sin and rose victoriously from the empty tomb on Easter.
5. A person is JUSTIFIED (saved), not through good works, but only by God's grace, through faith.
6. REPENTING means sincerely regretting one's sins and asking for Christ's forgiveness and guidance.
7. The CHURCH is all those people who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior.
8. BAPTISM, is a sacrament, which establishes new life in a person.
9. THE LORD'S SUPPER, is a sacrament, which is the Body & Blood of Christ "in,with, & under" the elements of bread & wine.
10. LUTHERANS believe that a person is saved only by the grace of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Our History
Early in 1957, Pastor Victor Buvinghausen of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur, recognized that there were probably enough Midcounty Lutherans to support the building of a mission church in either Nederland or Port Neches. And that fact was attested to by Vicar J. C. Henning of Trinity, who spent several days during the spring of 1957 visiting the homes of the Midcounty Lutherans. The voting membership of Trinity Church soon agreed to sponsor a mission church in Nederland, and late in July, 1957, Candidate John B. Schmid arrived in Nederland to become the first pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
