Holy Trinity Lutheran Church

At Holy Trinity Lutheran Church we believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word that not only relates the story of our salvation history but conveys the very salvation of which it speaks. The sacred Scriptures tell of the Creator God’s actions to restore the relationship that those created in God’s image ruined. The Good News is that lost and condemned sinners receive God’s forgiveness and favor through the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

We believe in the Holy Trinity, that God is one God, who has existed from all eternity as three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit who are co-equally God. The Bible states that there is only one God. We also learn from the Bible that the one true God consists of three persons. This is seen most clearly at Jesus’ baptism: we see God the Son as an in-the-flesh human being, God the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove, and God the Father’s voice speaking from the heavens. We embrace the mystery of the Holy Trinity because this is God’s self-revelation.

We believe that Jesus, the second person of the Holy Trinity, took the form of a man when conceived by the Holy Spirit in a virgin named Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life and credits that to our account while he takes our sin and the punishment they deserve on himself on the cross. While other religions teach that something must be done to earn God’s favor and salvation, we believe that Jesus has done everything necessary so that we might enjoy God and finally reign with Christ forever on the new earth. “The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

We believe the Holy Spirit calls us to faith through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible also promises that the Holy Spirit uses Holy Baptism and Holy Communion to connect us to the life that God gives us in Jesus Christ. God’s Word promises that in Christian Baptism God connects us to the death and resurrection of Christ so we die to sin are reborn to live in God’s kingdom under the gracious rule of our Lord, Jesus. In Holy Communion Jesus gives us His very body and blood in, with and under the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins so as to nourish the life of Christ and love of God poured into our hearts.
