Homestead Hico

A LETTER FROM BRENDA
To the HOMESTEAD patrons and followers all over the world:

A little over five years ago, my husband Mike and I purchased the HOMESTEAD store in Hico, Texas from Tim and Carol Bolton of Fredericksburg, Texas. I discovered the HOMESTEAD store in Fredericksburg several years ago after reading an enchanting article about the store in a magazine. As we lived north of Dallas at the time, I planned a pilgrimage to the store in Fredericksburg every year in order to get my fill of inspiration from all the fabulous antiques and vintage style creations the store always offered.

In 2004, Tim and Carol bought an amazing Opera House, built in 1895, in Hico, Texas and launched the second HOMESTEAD store. Hico is at the northern peak of the Texas Hill Country and is located only 1 - 2 hours from Dallas, Fort Worth, or Austin, Texas. The Bolton's magnificently restored the Opera House as well as several other historical buildings in downtown Hico.

Excited that I would no longer have to schedule vacation time to visit HOMESTEAD, I came to Hico to shop in November of 2005. My life changed forever on that day, as literally through a series of miracles that followed, my husband and I purchased the Hico location from the Boltons in April, 2006. I had just recently overcome an aggressive form of cancer, and I was at a point in my life (I was a practicing CPA), that I really wanted to spend my time doing what I absolutely love most - "playing" with antiques and anything vintage. Since the purchase of HOMESTEAD, I now spend my days in Hico's most beautiful store devoted to creating the same magic and wonder that HOMESTEAD in Fredericksburg always did.
