Homestead Resort

In 1866, Simon Schneitter discovered a large, curious-looking rock crater on his farm. Upon closer inspection, he realized that warm, soothing mineral was flowing into a pool where people could bathe and relax. Before long, this mineral “hot pot” became a favorite local attraction. Miners from neighboring towns discovered the warm waters of the Homestead Crater, and fell in love with the relaxation they experienced. Of course, soon they also needed a place to eat and sleep after their visit. The Schneitter family eventually opened the Homestead Resort where guests can soak, eat, and spend the night.
