The Hoover Astronomy Club involves mainly 6th through 8th graders at Hoover Middle School. We meet weekly as a club to learn more about astronomy, build connections with other students who share a passion for astronomy, and to plan service projects and community events.
From April to October, our club hosts monthly Star Parties that are free and open to the public. Star parties are your opportunity to observe the night sky through our telescope at Hoover. The Shirey Observatory is located on the South end of Hoover Middle School's football field.
The format of a star party follows an open-house style viewing, where you can come and go as you please during the hours our observatory is open (from 9-10:30pm).
