Hooves for Hope

Horses and human beings can form a strong bond with each other. This relationship can be utilized in the form of equine-assisted activities and therapies to help improve the lives of individuals.

Our goal is to utilize equine-assisted activities and therapies to improve the lives of individuals in our community. Some of the benefits our horses provide to our riders include a stronger sense of self-worth and self-concept, improved communication, increased social skills, decreased isolation, improved impulse control and emotional management, and an increase in trust and self-efficiency.

In 2017 a group of individuals in the Rocky Mount area set out on a mission to open a therapeutic riding center in Spring Hope, NC. We are currently in the development stage of this project, and we have made great strides towards achieving our goal. Four members of our team are in the process of undergoing internships to become certified instructors with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International. It is quite a labor of love, as we are presently traveling to Apex, NC on a weekly basis to receive training. We have also secured a 30 acre facility in Spring Hope, NC and three horses to be used in our program.

Our goal is to be up and running by the Spring of 2018. Accomplishing this goal will be no easy task. We are in need of both volunteers and resources.
