Starting a new business is a daunting process for most people, with new requirements and responsibilities that many new entrepreneurs are completely unaware of, and/or unprepared for. I've been there and done that. I love to dig into a new business owner's financials to find deductions they were completely unaware of. Sometimes, I get a new tax customer who was told by some “expert” to create an S-Corp or an LLC, only to find out they have an entity that is not the best fit for their needs as far as income taxes. EXPERIENCE

CURRENT POSITION, Kalamazoo MI (2005-present) – Accounting Manager: Responsible for all accounting and tax preparation for three companies that include title work, a night club, real estate auctions, and investment properties, as well as all human resources activities for over 40 employees.
Revenues exceed eight figures. Prepare tax returns for all three companies and the owner's individual return. Supervise, prepare and pay all aspects of payroll, payroll liabilities, quarterly and annual returns. Responsible for all A/R and A/P. Reconcile dozens of checking, cash, credit card, and credit card merchant accounts. Pay quarterly tax estimates, build cash flow projections, and determine depreciation for hundreds of assets. Prepare and file 1096 and 1099 forms, two local Personal Property Tax returns and Michigan Unclaimed Property Reports yearly. Pay monthly Sales and Use Taxes and Annual Returns. Enroll, amend, and terminate all employee Health Insurance and Health Savings Accounts. Fiduciary for the 401(k) plan.

ACCOUNTEMPS, Kalamazoo, MI (2004) Successfully reconciled 10 interrelated credit card accounts at $ 300,000+/mo. over four months to book and to bank, which I discovered were deposited into wrong bank accounts after owner transfer.

ABBI NURSING, INC., Kalamazoo, MI (1991-2004) President: Helped establish and grow home health care agency from $0 to $1 Million in sales. Created accounting systems and managed all finances, implemented and managed all computer systems, Human Resources, 401(k), and Cafeteria Plan. After 9/11, sales fell in half, wrote business plan and negotiated sale of client list, without disrupting the care of over 60 clients, and most employees were able to keep their jobs after the transfer.
