Today's world is rife with hate and violence, sickness and disease, miseducation and misguidance, struggles and strife. In a time when our youth find it difficult to shine their light in such darkness, House of Rastafari provides the spark to create the fire that will illuminate their paths and enliven their efforts to fill tomorrow's world with love and compassion, unity and harmony, strength and resiliency, knowledge and wisdom, and peace and power.
House of Rastafari is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides programs and services that help at-risk and underserved youth build self-awareness, self-esteem, and self-reliance; understand their history and culture; and positively contribute to their communities. With outlets for expression and inroads for enlightenment, young people maintain focus, avoid negative influences and behaviors, expand their horizons, and strive for success.
Programs and services include music and arts workshops at several local schools, including Champion Charter School in Brockton, MA; health and nutrition seminars at the organization's headquarters; tutoring assistance for grade school students’ and cultural awareness programs at colleges and universities throughout the country (programs have previously been delivered at UMASS Dartmouth, UMASS Boston, Massasoit Community College, Hesser College, and Spelman College).
Founded in 2002 by Dale Wathey (Ras Jahred), House of Rastafari was ordained by the Most High and born from a vision for a greater future for our youth. House of Rastafari staff and volunteers are dedicated to living righteously and working to make the world a better place. They are committed to creating and delivering programs and services that help communities be at peace in the knowledge that our youth will have a better tomorrow.
Local Influence, International Impact
For nearly a decade, House of Rastafari has influenced the lives of hundreds of youths, families, and communities in New England. In that time, the board, staff, and volunteers have worked tirelessly to expand the organization's reach in order to enhance more lives and empower more communities. In addition to providing youth and
community development programs and services in America, House
of Rastafari also partners with investors, sponsors, and developers to plan, build, and operate schools and health clinics in impoverished communities throughout Africa. These vital institutions are crucial to supporting African children and families as they seek not just to live or survive, but to thrive and take part in the upliftment and positive evolution of our world.
