Hridaya Hermitage

We are in a rural area located in the western mountains of Maine. The Hermitage is on 40 acres of woodland with a stream running through it that can be heard throughout the property, which can be enjoyed by walking our 4 miles of trails. All of the buildings at the Hermitage were constructed by members of the community with natural products and sustainability in mind. Our buildings include a 24’ by 40’ Straw Bale Yoga hall or Shala, a Treatment Kutir (hut), two guest houses, two log Saunas located near the stream, three Temples designed after the Indian tradition for the daily practice of meditation and worship, the Prasad Shala or kitchen, our eating hall which surrounds one of the Temples, three houses for the residing Practitioners and the home of our Gurus and family located above one of the Temples. All of our retreats, Yoga Work Shops, etc. are staffed by the residents of the Hermitage. We have no power except for two moderate solar systems to keep the environment of the Hermitage as pure as possible.
