Hudson, Maine

Hudson is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,536 at the 2010 census.HistoryHudson was first settled about 1800. In 1824, it became a plantation and was named "Jackson", probably after Andrew Jackson. In 1825, however, it was incorporated as the town of "Kirkland". The racial makeup of the town was 97.7% White, 0.1% African American, 0.7% Native American, 0.2% Asian, and 1.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.There were 590 households of which 33.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.3% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 27.6% were non-families. 17.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 2.91.
