Hume Lake Fire and Rescue

Established in 2004 in pursuant to California Health and Safety Code section 14825, Hume Lake Fire and Rescue, Company 70, is recognized by Fresno County Fire Department, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire), the Office of Emergency Management and the California State Fire Marshal. Hume Lake Fire and Rescue is located at Hume Lake, California in the Sequoia National Forest. Company 70‘s district reaches from the Sheep Skin Basin through Hume Lake Christian Camps to Princess Meadows on Highway 180. Today, Hume Lake Fire and Rescue is equipped to handle and respond to both structure and forest fires, medical incidents, auto accidents and mutual aid calls with neighboring agencies. Since HFR is located in the Sequoia National Forest, HFR holds mutual aid agreements with the U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service as well as Fresno County Fire. HFR is now a valuable resource to the NPS and FS as HFR is one of the most equipped and trained agencies in the local area to handle structural fires. Hume Lake Fire and Rescue is a volunteer based department, staffed mainly by employees of Hume Lake Christian Camps. HFR is not associated with or employed through Hume Lake Christian Camps.
