The Hunter Park GardenHouse, a project of Allen Neighborhood Center, serves as a demonstration site and hub for year-round garden education, where neighbors volunteer to grow food, flowers, and community, and youth develop job and life skills in service to the neighborhood.

Since 2008, the Hunter Park GardenHouse has empowered neighbors to grow, prepare, and eat healthy food to better their health and become better connected with the community. We are open 6 days a week, and offer a wide assortment of programs.Our current programs include:

Garden Education Workshops & Services
Gardening Workshops- a full menu of year-round gardening workshop options.
Urban Gardener Certification Course, a multi-session course teaching a variety of skills including planting food crops, designing home gardens, seed starting, composting, and soil science.
Yard Call Service- Our Gardening Educator, AmeriCorps member, provides free assistance to home gardeners to help them tackle various gardening issues.

GardenHouse Products
In effort to become financially sustainable, we are expanding our selection of products and services for sale, in which money raised will benefit our charitable programs, allowing us to provide services and programs for neighbors who can’t afford to pay.
Shop for custom-built garden boxes, season extension kits, plant starts, gardening supplies, fresh produce, and more!

Growing Food
We grow and sell produce through a Multi-Season CSA- providing access to affordable, sustainably-grown veggies, nearly year-round. We offer work-shares and accept EBT for payment.
Wholesale & Direct produce & flower sales are available through the Allen Market Place Exchange, or by contacting us.

Youth Programs
Take Root Garden Club- a youth program for ages 5-10, focusing on nutrition and fitness education through gardening.
Youth Service Corps- a job and life skills training program for youth ages 11-17, in which youth participate in service-learning projects focusing on food access: Garden-in-a-Box, Edible Park, Park Cart, and Fruit Tree Project.
