IAEP Local 747 was formed after a 74-7 vote to improve the life and safety of EMS employees in Manatee County. In it's current state, the first contract for the union is currently under negotiation with Manatee County Government.

Manatee County EMS is a division of Manatee County Public Safety and is tasked with responding to over 40,000 9-1-1 calls for service per year. The system comprises of over 130 Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, and Fire Fight Paramedics utilizing 18 Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport ambulances and 1 First Response ALS Fire Engine.
