Independence Park (Greenwood, IN)

Independence Park is Indiana's first fully handicapped accessible park and playground. It is located on a beautiful bluff in Greenwood, Indiana and looks over neighborhoods and three Center Grove schools. The park is on 13.5 acres and features accessible picnic shelters with charcoal grills and wheelchair friendly picnic tables. The park has a paved walking/workout trail surrounding the tree-lined perimeter and also a smaller paved trail that is adjacent to the playgrounds and picnic areas as well as being wheelchair friendly. Independence Park has playground areas for both toddlers and older children and features many accessible activities for those with physical as well as cognative disabilities. These include activity boards, platform wheelchair swings, full-backed chair swings, accessible sandbox and much more.

Independence Park is owned and operated by Johnson County Park and Recreation and is a community built park.The park is a 501C3 non-profit organization through the support of the Johnson County Community Foundation.
