More about Ingraham Castle Bed and Breakfast

The Ingraham Castle Bed and Breakfast is centrally located in the 47 block District of the National Register of Historic Places. In 1875, a contract was let to prominent St. Louis architect, W.P. Ingraham to build this structure to serve as Robertson County's' first jail, courtroom, and residence for the Sheriff. The structure opened on June 1, 1876. “Ingraham Castle” as the jail was called, served the needs of the county until 1880.
Later serving as the Park Hotel, Dr R.A. Browns office , and home for Fannie Lee Hammond and her family. Ingraham Castle remains a landmark for all of Calvert.
In 1983 Texas A&M was commissioned through the HABS program (Historic American Building Survey) by the Federal Government to research and draw 11 elevations of Ingraham Castle. These original drawings are now held in the U.S. Library of Congress. You will be shown the first copies by the Innkeepers.
During your visit you will enjoy a large collection of Victorian antiques, five original antique mantles, and a beautiful walnut staircase. Relax on the 2.2 acres of 100 + year old live oak trees, and set in the historic gazebo while the Innkeepers serve you a delicious cup of tea and English sconces.
If it's shopping, a great museum, or a tour of the 47 blocks of Historic homes that the historic district holds, the Innkeepers will assist you in a fun and relaxing visit.
