Interlochen Center for the Arts Comparative Arts

The comparative arts major at Interlochen Arts Academy is designed for high school students who want to pursue in-depth, self-directed study across arts and academics. The major attracts young artists with multiple skills and interests: creative writing, poetry, music, visual art, acting and dance. The Comparative Arts Curriculum balances theory classes (The Digital Artist, Psychology of the Artist, Communication Theory, Aesthetics and Seminars) with Body-Mind training, integrating Dance, Yoga, Pilates and the Healing Arts (Reiki, Ayurveda, BMC, Massage). We create original works in collaboration with other departments on campus on a regular basis and take frequent field trips. Our mantra: To live with curiosity every day and create life changing art in life and performance!
