Intermountain Academy

The Intermountain Academy takes a “whole child” approach to developing functional skills and building independence across environments. Partnering with
parents and creating a cohesive team around each child is a central feature of our educational design.

Using positive behavior supports builds student self-confidence and creates an environment of both motivation and challenge. At the Academy, educational skills and behaviors are tracked daily and the information is shared with parents and members of the child’s team, facilitating creation of an adaptable Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) as the student progresses throughout the school year.

One of the educational goals is to facilitate the use of all forms of language and communication. The classrooms can accommodate the use of and teaching with augmentative communication devices, when needed. The Academy supports Intermountain’s core values by serving diagnosed with Autism (K – Grade 8)

Providing an alternative placement for children diagnosed with Autism fulfills a much needed service to those children whose specific behavioral and educational needs cannot be met through the public education program of inclusion.
Oftentimes, children who have special needs require a more intensive individualized approach to their education. Some children are not able to participate actively in classrooms alongside their same age peers without creating distractions that effect the educational environment around them.
