Intermountain Alta View General Surgery

Alta View Specialty Clinic is home to two highly trained and skilled general surgeons.

Dr. Shane Lewis earned his medical degree at George Washington University School of Medicine. He then went to Texas A&M University for his surgical internship and general surgery residency. As a general surgeon, Dr. Lewis cares for a variety of conditions; he has particular interest and emphasis in abdominal wall disorders, colon and rectal cancer, acid reflux disease, gastric surgery, gastrointestinal, biliary tract (gall bladder), breast cancer, and minimally invasive surgeries, including advanced single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) for a variety of diseases.

Since 2006, Dr. Lewis served as a resident general surgeon at the Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. He is actively involved in Operation Smile, Boy Scouts of America, the American College of Surgeons and other organizations and volunteer opportunities. He is a member of the honor medical society AΩA (Alpha Omega Alpha).

Dr. Mark Mawhinney earned his medical degree at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. Prior to that, he attended Westminster College, here in Salt Lake City, where he graduated summa cum laude. After obtaining his MD, Dr. Mawhinney returned to Salt Lake City, where he served a general surgery internship followed by a five year general surgery residency at University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics.
