Established to foster diversity of thought and experience, International House of Rhode Island was founded in 1963 by Bili and Gil Mason, as an independent, non-profit multi-cultural center. The basis of the mission and vision created by this welcoming organization focuses on language training, cultural exchange, international fellowship, hospitality and local assistance for international visitors, through direct engagement with local communities. Aiming to create a "home away from home" for visiting scholars, professors, researchers and their spouses and children, as well as engage local citizens in gaining cultural awareness, sensitivities, and deepened knowledge of global issues through programs created to promote these valuable intersections.
