As a Navy Reservist, college was interrupted by a mobilization to Iraq for nearly a year from 2008 to 2009. My job in the Navy is literally 'Information Systems Technician." I was the all-things-IT guru for our unit both on the job and off. I remembered during that time that I liked the challenge of finding solutions to IT issues.

That's my story, now here is my pitch:

A) I only repair equipment that are either out of warranty or the cost of fixing them under warranty is more expensive than actually buying a new one.

B) I have never cracked open a MAC so, unless it is an emergency, I prefer not to take one on until I have experience in that area.

C) Initially, I will have to eat costs and time, but as my workload and need for more inventory increase, I will be seeking donations and grants.

D) If I cannot fix it, I am not going to continue to try and make things worse. I will simply bow out and recommend a business or individual that can.

E) I have limited work space right now, but I am meticulous at keeping inventory records and will do my best to take on as much work as possible.

F) I am currently training a former mechanic that is now disabled to do hardware repairs. I am also learning web design for myself and am using MS Elements Web 4 to train a disabled vet. The three of us will be able to cover all angles of IT.

G) If you have any old computers, printers, etc. laying around that you no longer use, but are good for spare parts, feel free to donate them to ITpro. It will keep costs down.
