Vision Statement

The Vision of the I’ve Known Rivers Film Festival (INRFF) is to live in a world in which the collective images of people of African descent are seen in a positive, productive and inspirational light. Further, we envision a world in which our artists and business persons attain ownership of the means of production in regards to their intellectual, cultural and artistic creations and areas in which they endeavor including music, film, business and otherwise.

Mission Statement

Through the magic of film, the mission of the IKRFF is to promote, preserve, contemplate and celebrate the historical and contemporary experiences, journeys & stories of people of African Descent. This will be done through the exhibition and screening of movies, documentaries, interviews, concerts, and other available visual expressions.

Goals & Objectives

Our goals and objectives include the annual (and year-round) screening of quality, culturally and educationally relevant films that reinforce positive images and messages that inspire the human spirit. I’ve Known Rivers is a dynamic film festival that includes live performances, educational symposium, a fashion showcase, a vendors marketplace and more. Finally, we are committed to introducing visual content that promotes and cultivates a spirit of intellectual curiosity and civic/community engagement.

A portion of the proceeds from our Film Festival supports the mentoring and after school life skills management and enrichment program for at risk/vulnerable youth entitled, See a Man, Be a Man. This dynamic relevant, effective programs, as does the film festival, operates under the umbrella of the foundation for arts, mentoring, leadership and innovation, aka, FAMLI, Inc., the parent company.
