As with most grass-roots small businesses, Jackie’s …Naturally started with a passion for healthy food and an intense love of gardening. We love good food, fresh from nature’s abundance, without pesticides or artificial fertilizers.
We began by growing sprouts as a nutritional addition to our everyday meals. But the danger from contaminated sprouts became a big concern for us. Sprouts required perfect conditions and while we loved the taste, texture and nutritional benefits, it wasn’t worth the risk of E. coli. So we looked about for a new way to get the same intense amounts of nutrients and antioxidants without the risks incurred from consuming sprouts.
Then we discovered microgreens! These yummy little bundles of pure goodness have delightful flavors.
From the spicy tang of Daikon radish to the crunchy nuttiness of Black Oil sunflower, microgreens deliver quality nutrition in flavors guaranteed to delight the palate. We found that microgreens grew well in our indoor growing station and we discovered many ways to enjoy their flavor. We added them to our salad greens from the garden. We tossed some on top of our soups and casseroles. We even made amazing pesto that family and friends couldn’t get enough of! And then we began growing micro-greens for friends and family and one local restaurant. And the rest, as they say, is history.
