Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens

With over three miles of trails traversing through 13 different ecosystems, the Jacksonville Arboretum offers a variety of experiences for people of all ages and abilities. The Arboretum's trails are graded easiest, moderate and more difficult based on terrain and length. Our central trail, the Lake Loop, is the easiest and encircles the picturesque Lake Ray. All other trails are accessed from the Lake Loop Trail and have benches along the way. Trail maps are available at the entrance kiosk.

For those with smart phones, QR codes on posts along the trails can be scanned for information on special points of interest. There are also 12 cyber yoga stations around Lake Ray with yoga poses demonstrated by U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Shannon Miller.

With an initial grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida Foundation and in partnership with the Healthy Jacksonville Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition, the Jacksonville Arboretum developed a "Trails for Health" program based on the Centers for Disease & Prevention's Steps to a Healthier U.S. initiative, the purpse being to encourage children and families to walk for better fitness and health. In addition to the length and difficulty, the trails have been measured in the number of steps needed to complete each so visitors can calculate the number of steps taken toward the recommended 10,000 per day.
