Services provided include assistance with utility bills, food, transportation gasoline vouchers for medical and dental appointments, referral vouchers for our families to a local thrift store for assistance with clothing and shoes, linens, and small household items when they are available. Through grants and the support of area businesses, JCOC established a Medical Assistance Program (MAP) that has made it possible for the elderly, disabled and low income, no income clients to receive assistance with necessary medications. Local dentists and optometrists have also partnered with JCOC by lowering their charges or no charges at all for services for Jacksonville's needy clients.
At the beginning of each school year, JCOC provides over 300 needy children with all necessary school supplies including backpacks.
JCOC provides Christmas assistance for more than 300 children each year. Toys, books, and new clothing are presented to each child as well as a stocking bag filled with goodies. Elderly clients receive a complete Christmas dinner.
