All too often, the economically and socially disadvantaged children we seek to serve have no reason to dream, because there is no hope for tomorrow.
We look at our grant proposals for a long-term effect rather than a "band-aid" approach. The programs we support strive to encourage our children to dream and to instill hope for a better tomorrow, to set goals and to make the commitment necessary to fulfill their dreams and achieve their goals.
Through a fair and objective evaluation process, grants are allocated to serve the needs of economically and socially disadvantage youth throughout Northeast Florida. In 2011, the Foundation awarded $1 million to 35 local nonprofit agencies. Since its first grants were awarded in 1995, the Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $15 million to worthy programs in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties to assist disadvantaged youth and their families. This level of giving is among the top few in professional sports.
