More about Jacksonville Roller Derby

Founded in March 2006 (as First Coast Fatales and then Jacksonville RollerGirls), Jacksonville Roller Derby (JRD) is Jacksonville’s first and only all female flat-track roller derby league. JRD have since earned a reputation for hitting hard and playing strong against other leagues throughout the Southeast region and across the country.
Comprised of over 70 skaters, JRD are dispersed among six teams that compete on differing skill levels: including home teams First Coast Fatales, Duval Derby Dames, Bold City Bombshells, and our All-Star traveling team, the New Jax City Rollers, B-team River City Rat Pack, and C-team J-Villains. Jacksonville Roller Derby is member owned-and-operated and is based on the concept “by the skaters, for the skaters”. All of our league members are volunteers who are dedicated to promoting an action-packed, full-contact sport that is both a thrill to play and non-stop entertainment for the spectator.

JRD was accepted into the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) in December 2010.
During the weekend of September 18-20, 2015 JRG and the City of Jacksonville hosted an D1 International WFTDA Playoffs weekend, at which London Brawling met the New Jax City Rollers in the final game. This was the first-- and to date, the only post-season action in the State of Florida.
The New Jax City Rollers made an impressive showing at their first championship experience, the 2015 International WFTDA Championships in St. Paul, MN November 6-8, 2015, winning their first bout against Arch Rival All Stars and putting up the most points (up until that point in time) against Gotham Girls Roller Derby, prior to falling to Gotham 299-114. The Derby World took notice after this fantastic showing of athleticism by the New Jax City Rollers!
The New Jax City Rollers are currently ranked #10 in the world out of 444 teams!
The 2016 season set a precedent for the league as we trained harder and traveled further to play some of the most experienced leagues in the country. The New Jax City Rollers made their second appearance at Championships in November 2016 taking on Minnesota Roller Derby and Victorian Roller Derby League to finish out their season.

In 2017, we continued moving forward by changing our league name and logo to reflect the ever-evolving sport of roller derby... we are Jacksonville Roller Derby!

JRD is not solely known for their athleticism, but is also recognized throughout Jacksonville for their volunteer efforts. We strongly believe in giving back to the community that has supported the foundation of our league. The team and staff regularly make appearances at local events by donating time, labor, and goods to the community and charity organizations such as Feeding Northeast Florida, Toys for Tots, and The Arc Jacksonville's Running of the Bulls.
