James R. Watson Elementary

Students who express an interest in learning more about the world around them may find the James R. Watson Elementary School, an International Baccalaureate World School, is the elementary school where they will thrive.

Students at James R. Watson are preparing for the 21st Century with the District’s consistent curriculum design, along with the concept of “International-Mindedness,” through development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world in which we live. This approach is based on six disciplinary themes using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, including:

6. Physical, Social, and Personal Education

The school is in partnership with the world-renowned International Baccalaureate World School (IB) based on Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum framework. This model addresses students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being needs, encourages students to develop independence, a strong sense of confidence and self-esteem, and to take responsibility for their own learning.
