More about JB's Clean Exteriors

Why use non-pressure cleaning?

There are reasons we use a non-pressure sprayer to clean your home's siding and roof.

Pressure washers harm your vinyl siding by removing the outer layer of UV/weather protection. Pressure washers also force water behind the siding which can damage your home, as well as create the potential for mold.
We soft wash your home using a non-pressure spray, safe detergent, and brush.

The same is true when we clean your roof. Others will use a pressure washer--not us. You want to remove the algae from your roof because it will deteriorate your shingles, but power washing your roof damages it even more. Power washing your roof will strip the sandstone right off of your shingles, leaving your home unprotected. Furthermore, like the vinyl example we gave earlier, power washing can force water up underneath your shingles -- sometimes even tearing the shingles away from the roof. We soft wash your roof using a non-pressure spray and a safe algae remover.

Likewise with gutters, we've seen gutters that have been torn away from the home by a pressure washer. We soft brush clean the outside of your gutters and downspouts. (We'll even clean out the inside of your gutters for a nominal additional upcharge.)

There are instances where power washing is appropriate -- just not on your home's vinyl siding, gutters, or roof shingles. We do, however, power wash your driveway, sidewalks, patios, brickwork, and decks.

All of our services are available separately or together. Do what your budget can afford on any particular visit. Whether it's just a sidewalk cleaning or the whole works -- no job is too small or too big.

FREE ESTIMATES -- LICENSED & BONDED

We service Bowling Green, Warren County, and Allen County, Kentucky. Service in other areas (Barren County, Butler County, and beyond) is subject to scheduling availability with a nominal additional travel charge.

A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THE DANGERS OF ALGAE...

First, you probably want to know how algae even appears on your home in the first place. Well, the trees, bushes and plants that surround your home give off airborne sugars. These sugars then travel to hard surfaces, such as your siding (and your roof)--which both create the environment that algae need to grow. With the proper combination of shade and moisture, your home will begin to grow algae. In other cases, it is simply dusty air that in and of itself contains the right ingredients to promote algae growth on your home. And in town near industry, or in the county near farmland, no house is immune from dust.

Vinyl Siding

Even though vinyl siding is considered to be relatively maintenance free (no painting necessary, for instance), it still needs a thorough washing at least once a year. If you even suspect algae growth on it, it needs to be removed as fast as possible to prevent further damage.
