More about Jeffcoat Photography Studio Museum

The Jeffcoat family saved all the photo negatives in the hopes that families would come back and get copies of the family photos that were taken at the studio. The Jeffcoat Photography Studio Museum continues that tradition by preserving and storing those same negatives. We also offer copies of those negatives. The Jeffcoat Photography Studio Museum also houses an extensive collection of cameras and photo equipment. Stop by and visit us next time you are in Abilene Kansas. We are located at 321 North Broadway.

Lucy Jeffcoat 1871-1950
At the age of 16 she traveled from Abilene to Williamsport to learn how to retouch photographs. She worked out of the home for many years retouching local photographers' works. In 1921, she and her son Paul "Bud" Jeffcoat started a photography business.

Paul "Bud" Jeffcoat 1899-1976
Bud started the Jeffcoat photography business in 1921 with his mother. In 1925 he built the building where the current museum is housed.

Bill Jeffcoat 1925-2007
After graduating from high school, Bill traveled the country working for photographers. In 1948 he came home. A famous local man by the name of General Dwight D. Eisenhower was running for President of the United States of America and Bill's inquisitive nature would not let him miss the opportunity to document the changes happening in his small town.
