More about Jerry Manuel Foundation

The Jerry Manuel Foundation’s mission is to educate urban youth with Charter School standards and train them in the fundamentals of baseball. This winning combination of “Clinical” and “Classroom” aims to direct youth back into all facets of America’s favorite pastime.
In 1975, 27% of MLB rosters were African American players. In 1995, the percentage dropped to 19%. Today, it is only 8%*. The JMF is committed to renew the legacy in “a sport where they once were its marquee performers.” * USA Today, April 16, 2012
After spending 40 plus years in professional baseball as a player, coach, manager and now an analyst, Jerry has honed his skills at the highest level and is now pouring what he has learned into the next generation. With his commitment to build character in our youth, he continues to create a great legacy.

JMF currently is a magnet program training urban youth into leaders on and off the baseball field.

JMF’s magnet program has partnered with Alpha Middle School in Elverta, CA emphasizing that greatness starts within. In the classroom, youth learn about our great legends and beyond. JMF’s Homeroom weaves the school curriculum, Jackie Robinson’s Nine values to live by, and practical baseball applications in order to develop our youth. As each player takes the field to hone their skills, the uniform he must wear is Jackie’s Nine: Courage, Determination, Teamwork, Persistence, Integrity, Citizenship, Justice, Commitment, and Excellence.
The JMF and Alpha Middle School partnership serves as a pilot program toward the ultimate goal of the Foundation’s aim to establish clinical-school based programs nationwide.
