Jessica Dowd Tallett started her career in the hospitality industry in college and worked as an events and wedding planner for 11 years. She sees a similarity in the stress levels and emotions between young engaged couples and first time home buyers. Part of the LGBT community and a newlywed herself, Jessica brings a unique understanding to couples facing new beginnings on two fronts – life as newlyweds and as new home owners.

Jessica Dowd Tallett has a special talent for calming the jitters and reassuring anxious borrowers. From the outset, she prepares first time home buyers for what’s to come, explaining the product options and requirements. She says, “I tell them I will have to get to know them personally very quickly.” Informing clients that there are many documents required during the mortgage process, Jessica explains the policies that regulate specific requirements and cautions that they may still need to provide even more documents after the initial document gathering.

Her goal is to put first time home buyers at ease so they won’t be alarmed when things seem out of the ordinary. Genuine and reassuring, she says, “My clients and I talk almost daily on an informal level. I want them to feel that they can ask me questions. It’s vitally important that I become their friend in the process, not just their loan officer. I can’t wait to get to the closing table, see it done and give them a hug!”

She and her wife Connie, who is in the military reserves, were married in January 2015. Unknowingly, they lived just one hour apart as children growing up in upstate New York. Jessica says, “We have a crazy love for animals and have three cats and a dog.” She has been known to run through her neighborhood to rescue an abandoned baby squirrel and an injured baby rabbit. Jessica teaches their sons to care for the animals by “walking around our neighborhood ponds and removing the trash for the ducks.”

Jessica has a special heart for the elderly. Having lost one grandmother to Alzheimer’s with a second grandmother currently living with the disease, she supports the Alzheimer’s Foundation as well as the Elderly Giving Tree.
