Now, roughly 150 years after emancipation, it occurs to me, that, little has changed since the days of ol’ mastah, and the last crack of his lash. Whatever the practice and/or the profession, Africans in American still do not fully endorse biblical Christianity and/or real belief in the God of the Bible. That is—notwithstanding his present ability to read and think outside of the box of slavish confinement, and, far beyond the limitations imposed by the slave owner for maximum control through ignorance (philosophically, the less he knew, the less he should therefore have wanted!)—his mentality in virtually any given church today, on any given Sunday, is still that of an early American, slave era Negro! He is therefore (it might rightly be argued) ‘reactionary’ in his religious thinking, and, as such, he refuses to change. He has no intention of ever being or becoming what the God of the Bible wants him to be.
