With foresight of A. Roger Atkinson, Sr., his wife Martha, along with the help of 2 lifelong friends Warren and Paul Garber, Atkinson Transfer was started back in 1955. Atkinson Transfer would be the spark that grew into one of the largest family-owned trucking companies in the State of Ohio. With the need of a combination of owner operator and company units to serve on of the area's larges shipper, General Motors, Jet Express, Inc. was founded in 1983 with its first shipment originating from GM Central Foundry in Bedford, Indiana. Bill Dwyer was the company's 1st President (83-85) followed by Jay Moran (85-86), Alan Stowell (86-88) and Kevin Burch, its current President. Jet Express continues to be that family business with partners Greg Atkinson (retired in 2012), Roger Atkinson, Jr. Amy Hogan and Kevin Burch. Roger Jr. opened our first terminal outside of the Dayton Corporate office in Marion, Indiana in 1986.
