From the classic, subtle blends of grays and darks using graphite through the bold, rich blacks of pen and ink to the infinite possibilities of a mixed media pallet, there remains a common thread. The common thread is the "eye of the beholder" which is able to capture and distinguish the emotion and creativity that the artist has placed in any line, shadow, color, or composition. It's not just a drawing, painting, rendering, or design, it is personal, at least to them. If the artist is fortunate enough, his or her work evokes an emotion that may be as different as each person viewing it. I have continued to learn and be humbled by the eyes that are the true mirrors of my work. It does not have to be words, as a simple smile, a single tear, or the sincere nod of a head that lets you know you have captured a part of history, a moment of today, or a glimpse into the future.
