More about Joe's Homestyle Eatery

Joe's Homestyle Eatery opened for business in July of 2014. Driven by the needs of its customers, Joe's Homestyle Eatery is just that… a hometown "Eatery." Located in the heart of beautiful North Greece, NY, our Eatery serves as a deli, a cafe, a take out style restaurant, and as a caterer. Here at Joe's our motto is "Always Fast & Fresh, Never 'Fast Food' " and we strive to live by that each and every day.

Joe's Homestyle Eatery cooks as much food in-house as possible using nothing but the best fresh local ingredients. From our Hand Pressed Breakfast Sausage in the morning, to grabbing a Country Style Sandwich or Wrap on your way to work for lunch, Joe and his "Eatery Team" can start your day off right. Stop in for a fast lunch on the run and grab a bowl of Joe's Famous Greens & Beans. Take home a pound of our In-House Slow Oven Roasted Turkey or Roast Beef! We bake our sub rolls fresh everyday and carry five delicious varieties! Don't forget to try a Joe's Famous Shaved Steak Sub on a Multi-Grain roll or to call us for your next family or work function. Let us do the cooking and you can take all of the credit!

Joe Spallina, owner and operator of the Eatery, is no stranger to the food service business. At the early age of 7, Joe could be seen working along side his father and uncle serving customers from The Original Pizza Fritta food stand at the Italian and October Festivals. It was here that Joe's family introduced the "Original Calzone" to the Rochester area in 1977. While he attended Greece Athena High School, 17 year old Joe negotiated a schedule with his Vice Principal that allowed him to leave school after his morning classes so he was able to operate his own food stands at numerous seasonal festivals. Joe's family continued to serve great homemade food to customers every summer at these festivals for years. The focus was on fresh, fast, quality food which drew a loyal following every summer.

In 1990, Joe and his father launched two state of the art concession trailers to expand their services to all of upstate New York’s best festivals. By 1996, Joe was operating his first hot dog cart on Main Street in downtown Rochester. This one cart led to a series of great opportunities which included operating most of the concessions at The Finger Lakes Performing Art Center and the Inaugural Season at Frontier Field. While honoring these commitments, Joe's operations could also be seen at regional festivals, events, and tournaments. As Joe's business continued to expand, he was honored to be asked to form a partnership with Zweigles in order to assist them with breaking into new markets. By 1999, Joe opened his first take out and catering facility which employed an average of 40 people to keep up with the growing concession demands.

Joe rounded out his food service knowledge by eventually taking a position at Bona Via Foods. Here, he was the Production Supervisor overseeing a plant with over 50 employees who produced an average of 10,000 cases of pizza shells and breads each week. This opportunity eventually led Joe to accept a position as the Director of Operations for Red Osier Food Services. Here, he had the fortunate opportunity to build and recreate four locations, and team up with Salvatore’s Old Fashioned Pizzeria.

During his time with Red Osier Food Services, Joe was incredibly privileged to continue building his relationships with the area’s best and largest special events and facilities such as Frontier Field, Sahlen’s Stadium, Total Sports Experience, The Xerox Greater Rochester International Jazz Festival, The Lilac Festival , and many more. These relationships paired with a long history of serving the community through festivals and local restaurants such as Bosdyk’s,Trapper’s Pub, Breaker’s, The Bootlegger, and Bobby Rubino’s has prepared Joe well for his current venture. Joe hopes to give back to his community by not only serving fresh, fast, quality foods, but by offering exceptional customer service to the community in which he grew up in and currently resides.

Joe and his family are incredibly grateful for this opportunity to serve their local community. They look forward to a growing relationship with their customers and fostering ongoing community partnerships.
