John Brawley Post 20 of the American Legion

The American Legion features numerous programs including American Legion Baseball, Boy's State, Scouting, Oratorical Contests, Junior Shooting Sports, Youth Alumni, Sons of the American Legion, American Legion Riders, and Scholarships at every level of the organization.

In addition to the above activities Post 20 of the American Legion participates in local Naturalization Ceremonies welcoming the new United States Citizens. Post 20 organizes the Charleston, WV Veteran's Day Parade, a responsibility the post has undertaken since the 1940s. Post 20 has partnered with the YWCA Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women and Families in order to provide food and monetary donations in order to help support the shelter. Sojourner's Shelter also provides shelter for homeless veterans in the Charleston area. Post 20 organizes a yearly Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony honoring the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who endured the surprise attack on the United States.
