In 2004, the hospital became the first in the Phoenix area to be granted Magnet Recognition, the highest national designation for excellence in nursing care, by the American Nurses Association. North Mountain Hospital also was the first medical facility in the Phoenix area to reconfirm Magnet status, in 2009.
The designation places the hospital among the nation's top 7 percent of hospitals for nursing care.

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), the largest specialty nursing organization in the world, awarded the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital with a Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence.
By earning the Beacon, the Cardiovascular Unit joined its sister unit, North Mountain's Intensive Care Unit, which in 2007 became the first in the state to earn a Beacon Award and in 2009 became the nation's 30th hospital critical care department to earn a second Beacon Award.
