“John Cox Martial Arts” was established in 1981 and is a respected and an internationally recognized school of Martial Artist dedicated to the preservation of the “Arts” as they were originally meant to be taught.

Our doors are open to anyone with a sincere desire to preserve, protect, and study the true and authentic Martial Arts and traditions. We are oathed and dedicated but not limited to, the research, analysis, preservation and protection of the rare and lost arts of the Hakutsuru (White Crane) Arts and the original Karate of Okinawa.

In addition to exploring the concepts, principles, techniques and applications of these closely guarded arts, our teachings also focus on the history, men and cultures of the islands of which they were born. It is through these teachings and dedications that the once lost ideas and concepts of these original Arts can at last be found again!

In reading this you are lucky to be a potential member of a friendly and serious group which has chosen to practice one of the oldest, most authentic and sought after Martial Arts systems in the world today. Due to the fact that we are a low profile group of purist who insist on practicing the old traditional methods, we respect, but we do not participate in or teach what has become the modern commercially driven, “Sports” version of the arts so prevalent in the world today.

Shihan John Cox has over 30 years’ experience in the Martial Arts and has been bestowed the title of Kentucky State Director of “Okinawan White Crane Kenkyu Association” by the founder and Kiacho Tony Sandoval due to his loyalty, dedication, and protection of the original arts.
