John Scott for Friendswood City Council, Pos. 5

John Scott is running for re-election to Friendswood City Council, Position 5.

John has served on City Council for the past 6 years.

John has lived here in Friendswood since he was 13, and graduated from FHS in 1985. After high school, John joined the Marine Corps, serving 5 years, including time in the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Storm.

A devoted family man, John married fellow FHS graduate Kim McCalla in 1990. John and Kim have 2 children: Hunter 17, and Hailey 14.

For the past 6 years, John has been Owner and President of Phoenix Industrial Tires.

Prior to that, John worked at Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., the world's largest supplier of hydrogen and helium, for 16 years, starting off as an operator, then moving up the ranks to lead as Assistant Plant Manager.


He volunteers much of his time helping the kids in our community through youth sports. You’ve probably seen “Coach John” out at the ball fields of Friendswood, where he has taught sportsmanship and teamwork as a football, baseball, and lacrosse coach for many years. Less noticeably, yet much more time-consuming is the amount of work John devotes to the youth sports organizations. He served 6 years on the Friendswood Little League Board of Directors, 4 years with the Friendswood Youth Football Assocation (the Broncos), serving 2 years as President. John served on the City of Friendswood Parks and Recreation Board for 3 years.

John’s commitment to service and his proven leadership and experience make him uniquely qualified to serve Friendswood as City Councilmember.
