Johnny's Garden

We are a bio-intensive market garden located in Earleton, FL. Our mission is to provide fresh, affordable, naturally grown vegetables to our local community. Our growing practices are "organic" but since we have not started the rather long process of becoming certified and out of respect to those growers that are certified we simple call our produce naturally grown.

What started in the fall of 2015 as just a hobby garden was radically changed after reading a book by Jean-Martin Fortier titled "The Market Gardener". The book goes into great detail about how to set up a commercial operation to make a living on 1.5 acres or less. This is done without using conventional farming methods, and uses a combination of minimum tillage of the soil, permanent raised beds, crop rotation, intensive crop spacing and the use of innovative hand tools all to increase yields on less land.

We are drawn to how sustainable these methods are and feel that by direct marketing to our customers we can shorten the food chain that has broken our food distribution system for many years. We hope to be one of those small growers that help re-invent the noble profession of farming by growing food for our local community like it was done 100 years ago.
